This years astrophotography competition on 20th May 2018 had two main categories

1. Solar System,
2. Deep Sky
3. Smartphone

Three classes of astrophotography for:

1. Less than 12 months experience
2. Greater than 12 months expereince

The images in all categories were of a very high standard this year and in some cases between separating the winner and runner-up were separated by couple of votes!

• Greater than 12 months experience, won by Graham Darke. Astro image: Solar Eclipse – Spectacular Corona image.

Deep Sky

• Less than 12 months experience, won by Kevin Urquhart, Astro image: Night sky scene.
• Greater than 12 months experience, won by Graham Darke. Astro image: Orion with context.

Smartphone

• One experience level: won by Dave Beedham, Astro image: Moon with annotations.

The Runner-up Astrophotographers by Category, Class and astro image were:

Solar System

• Less than 12 months experience, won by Eve Hunter, Astro image: Moon.
• Greater than 12 months experience, won by Keith Johnson. Astro image:  Spectacular Jupiter image.

Deep Sky

• Less than 12 months experience, No Entry.
• Greater than 12 months experience, won by Keith Johnson. Astro image: Horsehead Nebula in Orion.

Smartphone

• One experience level: won by Isaac Darke, Astro image: Moon.
